SIMPLE NETWORK

PREPARATION
Preparation of a simple network installation in this example is to use two pieces of workstation and a switch. Each node is connected to the cable so that it looks in the picture below.

Workstation : The computers are connected to the network.
Switch  will we use to connect many computers that have a connection ports. There are 24 ports, 32 ports, and underneath  there.
Node : Each computer, printer or peripherals connected to the network.

Then configure the host IP address PC0  by double-clicking  the image PC0,  then click the Desktop tab and select the  IP Configuration menu.

Configure the workstation as follows :

On PC0 : IP Address: 192.168.100.1
Subnet Mask : 255.255.255.0 (Default)
Gateway : -
DNS Server : -

On PC1 : IP Address: 192.168.100.2
Subnet Mask : 255.255.255.0 (Default)
Gateway : -
DNS Server : -

To test  the connection between two nodes using the utility "ping".  To start a ping from PC0  to PC1, by double clicking on PC0 so it appears the properties window for PC0, then select the  Desktop tab,  then select the Command Prompt.

PC0 and PC1 workstations can be connected if the IP address of the workstation is configured properly. To test the connectivity between nodes can use the command "ping". The results of the ping command output there are many different kinds. Namely: Reply, Request Timed Out, and Destination Host Unreachable.

PEER TO PEER

PREPARATION
Preparation Peer to Peer Network installation in this example is to use 2 pcs Laptop. Laptop is connected with a crossover cable so that it looks in the picture below.

Then configure the host IP address Laptop0 by double-clicking the image Laptop0, then click the Desktop tab and select the IP Configuration menu.

Configure the workstation as follows :

On Laptop0 : IP Address: 192.168.10.1
Subnet Mask : 255.255.255.0 (Default)
Gateway : -
DNS Server : -

On Laptop1 : IP Address: 192.168.10.2
Subnet Mask : 255.255.255.0 (Default)
Gateway : -
DNS Server : -

To test  the connection between two nodes using the utility "ping".  To start a ping from Laptop0  to Laptop1, by double clicking on Laptop1 so it appears the properties window for Laptop1, then select the  Desktop tab,  then select the Command Prompt.

Laptop0 and Laptop1 Workstation can connect if the workstation IP address has been configured properly.
